Robert E. Smith, 74 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Watson Towship, died Friday, February 8, 2002 at Metron of Forest Hills. Mr. Smith was born July 2, 1927 in Detroit, MI the son of Roy and Margaret (Streeter) Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and had worked at Parker Hannifin Pneumatic Division in Otsego for 20 years retiring in 1990. He loved to hunt and fish. Surviving are 3 children, Steve & Deb Smith of Allegan, Kathy Morris of Allegan, Rick & Rhonda Smith of Hopkins, 2 grandchildren, Jason and Amber, 1 great granddaughter, Kennidie, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Jim & Donna Smith of Grand Rapids, Leroy Smith of Arizonia, Jack & Deb Smith of Irons, Marcie & Fred Mulder, and Joan Deene of Pennsylvania, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Smith. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.
