Obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert Leonard Nabors of Allegan who went home to his Father on July 21, 2011. Robert, known as Chop to those who knew and loved him, was born July 6, 1956 the first son of Harriette Gant and Ralph Nabors in Chicago, Illinois. He leaves behind his wife, Melissa, his mother and step-father Harriette and William Portrum, his children, the loves of his life: Racquel Dixon, Carine Dixon-King, Brianna Jefferson, Jordan Robert Nabors, Halaina Nabors, Noah Nabors, and Isaiah Nabors. Two grandchildren that had a very special place in his heart: Stanley King Jr. (JJ) and Mikaela Clemmons. Sisters Victoria (Deondra) Nabors, Camille Williams, Karen (Charles) Sullivan, and Shirley (Mickey) Hayes, and his brother Gregory Nabors. Aunts Betty (Monroe) White, and Mildred (Angus) Laird, and Uncle Harold (Ernestine) Gant. Nieces Jocelyn (Martin) Calimee, Melissa and Andrea Williams, and nephews Shawn (Maragret) Nabors, Jonathon and David Williams, Marcus, Bryan, and Steven Sullivan, and Gregory Nabors. A host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many many friends, including his "brother from another mother" Sean Church. He is preceded in death by his fathers Ralph Nabors and Eugene Robert Johnson, his grandparents Edward and Hester Johnson, Uncles Leonard Gant and Carl Gant, Aunt Mary Brooks, niece Savannah Emelander and great niece Amina Irvine and great nephew Maurice Calimee. Robert will be missed by all that he shared his life with and remembered for his unconditional love everyday in all of our hearts as he watches us now from above. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, July 26 (Today) from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Grace Temple Community Church in Allegan, with a 1 hour visit from 10 -11 at church. Rev. Dwight Gant will officiate. Military honors and graveside services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
