Obituary

Robert Clare Chandler, 81 of Allegan, died Monday, May 10, 2004 at his home. Mr. Chandler was born May 12, 1922 in Allegan, MI the son of Willard and Christine (Maxwell) Chandler. He graduated from Allegan High School and had attended Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a 1st Lt in the Tuskegee Airman 99th Fighter Squadron. He retired from Rockwell Int. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Luana Chandler of Kalamazoo; 2 granddaughters, Kimberly Chandler of Kalamazoo, Koren Chandler of New Mexico; 1 great grandson, Maxwell; 1 brother, Avery (Georgia) Chandler of Tennessee; 1 sister, Vivian Felts of Allegan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 2002, a son, Wendell in 1994 and 2 sisters, Thelma and Bessie. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Allegan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses at 7:00 p.m. Brother Ken Engelking officiating. Private interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 68, Allegan, MI 49010. Arrangements by Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
