Ricky J. Meyer, 65 of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born July 6, 1956 in Allegan, Michigan, he was the son of Thelma (Freeman) Hartsuiker and the late James D. Meyer and the husband of Lisa (Schafer) Meyer. Rick was a fun-loving and caring son, husband, father and grandfather. He spent over 41 years working at the Perrigo Company in the warehouse and logistics area. Once he retired, he and his wife, Lisa, loved to spend time in their yard entertaining family and friends. He cherished his daughter, Erin, and felt blessed when she and Ryan made him a papa to Kaden. Spending time with Kaden meant the world to Rick and he loved showing him how to play basketball, golf and play in the pool. He especially loved their times together when he took Kaden to school or played Mario Cart with him (which Kaden always seemed to win!). Rick's love for his family was very apparent. Working in the shop with Erin, putting together or fixing furniture, was a highlight in his life. He was a man who loved and embraced life and did his best to make the most of it. One of his passions was his love of sports - most importantly, he enjoyed playing golf with his Cheshire Hills guys. He also loved U of M football and basketball and going to the Detroit Tigers games with Gary and Greyson Steele. Another favorite passion of his was his love for the classic muscle cars, which he admired and dreamed of owning one day. Rick was a true friend to so many, but more importantly, he was a man that cherished his family and showed his love for them everyday. The memories that they were able to create will be treasured and even though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Along with his mother, Thelma, and his wife of 41 years, Lisa, he is survived by his daughter, Erin and her husband, Ryan Krueger; his grandson, Kaden; father-in-law, Dale Schafer; mother-in-law, Sue Griffith; brother and sister, Randy and Michelle Schafer; nephews, Josh Walsh and Andrew Schafer; niece, Kayla Williamson; and forever friends, John Caron and Terri and Gary Steele. Friends may come and celebrate Rick's life on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Cheshire Hills Golf Course (3829 102nd Ave., Allegan, MI 49010) from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
