Richard Eugene Walters, 88 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at his home. Born January 1, 1934, in Allegan, Michigan, he was the son of the late Earl and Isabella (Sadler) Walters and the husband of the late Phyllis (Beattie) Walters. Richard served honorably in the United States Air Force for one year and then in the Army for three years. Afterwards he went to work for Rockwell International in Allegan, Michigan and worked diligently for 29 ½ years prior to retirement. He was a Golden Age Eagle member of FOE 2315 Aerie Lodge where he enjoyed the camaraderie of the other members. Richard and his late wife, Phyllis, were blessed with a beautiful family and he enjoyed raising his children and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for being a man who would give others the shirt off his back if you needed it. Richard was also very proud of his Liar's Poker dollar bill G11711111D. He was a man who appreciated obedience and loved animals, especially his cat, Pepé Le Pew (aka, Stinky). He is greatly loved and dearly missed. Richard is survived by his children, Lucy (Rex) Strasser, Dave Walters, and Michelle Walters; 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Brandy, Dorothy, Kurt, Tammy, Travis, Kris, Ronald, Cody, and Cory; 19 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Robert Walters, James (Karen) Walters, and Bonneta Hummel. Along with his wife of 51 years, Phyllis, and his parents, Earl and Isabella, he was preceded in death by three of his children, a baby girl, Richard Walters, Jr., and Claudette Walters; and three siblings, Margaret Eberhard, Edward (Joyce) Walters, and Donald Walters. The family will meet with friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan, Chapel, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at which time the funeral service will begin. Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife in Hudson Corners Cemetery.
