Richard William "Richie" Green, 54, of Allegan, MI passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home. Born September 4, 1965 in Allegan, he was the son of Joyce Ann (Christman) Strand and the late Kenneth Charles Green and was the husband of Melissa Erin (Harrington) Green. Richie had been a local painter for over thirty years. In 2004 he went into business for himself as the owner and operator of Southwest Michigan Paint Contractors. In 2016 he joined Melissa in running the Iron Bridge Sports Bar here in Allegan. Richie was an avid outdoorsman. He loved going hunting of any sort, but his passion was ice fishing. He spent Saturdays in the winter hosting ice fishing tournaments in Allegan County for the last 30 years. Thus, starting the Allegan County Pike Chasers. Rich had also been a member of the Allegan Eagles Club over the past few years. Richie enjoyed golfing at Cheshire Hills Golf Course, where he met the love of his life Melissa in 2004. They had both been employed there and remained active in leagues there ever since. Richie enjoyed playing horseshoes and being outside doing most anything from lawn work to gardening. He especially loved playing with the many "greats" in his life, nephews, nieces and especially his pride and joy, his granddaughter Sayre. Most of all, Richie was a devoted family man. Above all else, spending time with the ones he loved was his favorite pastime. His smile was infectious and is what everyone cherished about him. His laughter and presence in his loved ones' lives has left a tremendous void, replaced only by cherished memories. In addition to his mother, Joyce, and his wife, Melissa, Richie is survived by his children, Bridget Tripp-Green, Jacob Agy, Nickolas Agy and Zackary Agy; siblings, Tim (Lori) Green, Kenneth (Sue) Green, Jr., Denny (Leisa) Green, Tammy (Steve) Rasmussen, Troy Green and Gordy Greene; granddaughter, Sayre Brown; many loved nieces and nephews, especially Charlie Smith, Krista Bender, Steven Rasmussen and David Rasmussen, whom Richie treated as his own children; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Along with his father, Kenneth, he was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Tripp-Green; sister, Brenda Sutherland; and his brother, William (Bill) Christman. The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Service Details.
