Aged 62, of Dacula, GA, formerly of Hopkins, MI, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at his home in Georgia. Richard was born May 7, 1944 in Hopkins, the son of Richard P. Sr. and Alice (Rose) Thompson, where he grew up with his brother and six sisters in a happy home. He was a graduate of Hopkins High School, class of 1962, and had served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman from a young age and throughout his life. In later years, he became interested in metal detecting, and spent many happy hours with friend, Jim Arnsman, while pursuing this hobby. Surviving are 3 children, Wade and Jenn Thompson of Dacula, GA, Chuck Lingenfelter of Pennsylvania and Reeda and Chuck Cessna of Florida; beloved grandchildren, Talon and Chase Thompson; 6 sisters, Peggy and Lee Arnsman and Joan and Bill Riksen all of Hopkins, Marjory and Richard Smith of Hastings, Hannah and Russell Pogodzinski of Hilliards, Kay and Richard Peterson of Lapeer and Rev. Denise Thompson of Phoeniz, AZ; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Thompson, and a son, Richard Paul "Stoney" Thompson III. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Rev. Denise Thompson officiating.
