Obituary

of Hopkins, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming. Mr. Malone was born February 2, 1936, in Allegan, the son of Francis and Frances (Pease) Malone. Dick attended Hopkins Reformed Church, he retired in 1993, from General Motors, Diesel, in Grand Rapids after 30 years of service, and was a member of the UAW Local 167. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Dick loved his family and his community, he served on the Hopkins Village Council, was a Fireman for many years,and worked for the Hopkins DPW. Surviving are his 4 children; Dawn and Lon Arndt, Sherri Malone, Dan and Dawn Malone all of Hopkins, and Julie Malone of Grand Rapids, 6 grandchildren; Kristi and Ben Fifelski, Becki, Kelli, Katlyn, Tyler and Alexis, 1 great granddaughter, Claire, 3 brothers; Don and Joyce of Jenison, Ken and Sandra of Ada, and Frank and Ruthann of Hopkins, 1 sister; Donna and Don Wenger of Grand Rapids, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick also had lots of special friends, that were very important to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his granddaughter, Taylor and his sister, Pat Dykes. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, April 22, from 5-8pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 11am at the Hopkins Community Reformed Church. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Taylor Malone Memorial Fund C/O the United Bank of Michigan.
