Allegan, MI, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at his home. Mr. Boynton was born Sept. 16, 1920 in Allegan, the son of George G. And Hildur C. (Anderson) Boynton. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church and the American Legion Oscar Briggs Post #89. He had worked as an insurance representative for AAA of Michigan for 15 years and as an independent agent until his retirement in 1982. On June 6, 1942 in Battle Creek, he was united in marriage to Norma Deen (Green), who survives. Also surviving are 4 children and their spouses, Melanie and Donald Pletcher of Williamston, Janice and Robert Green of Kalamazoo, Richard D. and Tracy Boynton and Fern and Don Gunderson, all of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Laura, Gregory, D.L., and Andy; 4 great grandchildren, Cameron, Connor, Branden and Audrey; 1 brother and his wife, David G. and Christine Boynton of San Diego, CA., several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Joseph Spackman officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Otsego V.F.W. Post #3030, will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
