Obituary

Monterey Twp., Allegan, MI, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Metron of Allegan. Mr. Lautenschleger was born December 6, 1926 in Sparta, MI, the son of William and Bertha (Monroe) Lautenschleger. He was a veteran of WWII, having served as a corporal in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 25 years, and had been employed at the Allegan U.S. Post Office for 31 years, retiring in 1981. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn (Miller); 7 children, Joe and Noreen Lautenschleger of Hudsonville, Jim and Betty Lautenschleger of Allegan, Lura and Dan Jones of Constantine, Jack Lautenschleger of Allegan, Sue and Bernard White of St. Petersburg, FL, Jon and Nancy Lautenschleger and Jeff Lautenschleger, all of Allegan; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Max and Norma Lautenschleger of Grandville, Frank and Geraldine Lautenschleger of Allegan, Dan and Judy Lautenschleger of Caledonia and Edward Lautenschleger of Wayland; 4 sisters, Pearl Holton of Alto, Jennie Zinger of Jenison, Barbara Miller of Allegan and Hazel Rood of Grand Rapids; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; 2 brothers; and a daughter-in-law. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Edwin Martin officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
