Rex Lee "Boonie" Gomber, 70, of Allegan, MI passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Allegan General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Born August 23, 1951 in Allegan, he was the son of the late Harold Francis Gomber and the late Bonnie Verladien (Zoll) Gomber. He was a loving husband to the late Charmain Lynn (Dunlap) Gomber for over forty-eight years. Boonie had worked many years at Dog Life, Inc. in Hamilton and then finished his work career at Vande Bunte Eggs/Konos, Inc. in Martin. He was an active member of The Fennville Rod and Gun Club where he loved to shoot trap with his son, Shawn, grandsons, Gage and Tyler, and friend, Bill Stedman. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, playing poker and fishing and had always looked forward to weekend sleepovers with his grand and great grandchildren. Boonie was a man you could always rely on. More than anything else, he will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather (Papa, Papa Boon) Rex is survived by his three children, Yolanda R. (Frank) Key, Shawn L. Gomber and Holly E. (Tyler, Sr.) Harrell; brothers, Randy Gomber and Gary (Linda) Gomber; sister, Julie (Mike) Harrington; grandchildren, Gage (Sheinah) Key, Alli (Caleb) Key, Tyler Harrell, Jr., TayShawn Harrell, Tyriq Harrell and Selena Gomber; great-granddaughter, Eliza Key; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with his wife, Charmain Lynn (Dunlap) Gomber, he was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie; father, Harold; sister, Sandra; and granddaughter, Deven Gomber. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and Rex will be laid to rest privately alongside Charmain in Oakwood Cemetery.
