of Allegan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at his home at the age of 81. Ray was born May 31, 1929 in Valley Twp., the son of Lee Roy and Nancy (Covault) Thompson. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Mac Sim Bar Paper Company in Otsego and also worked for Rockwell in Allegan for over 25 years retiring in the late 80's. He was a life member of the Allegan Order of the Eagles, and loved spending time hunting and fishing with his grandkids. He was a very private person who enjoyed playing the lottery and feeding the wild animals. In 1951, Ray married Anna M. Conley, the marriage ended in divorce. Surviving are his 3 children; Joyce and Royal Thompson, Lyle and Karen Thompson, and Cindi and Dane Kurtz, all of Allegan, grandchildren, Ryan and Royce Thompson, Tara and Chris TerVree and Holly Thompson and Joshua and Sarah Kurtz, 3 sisters; Wanda and Jim Conley, and Shirley and Ben Arlington all of Allegan, and Carolyn and Dean Durst of Gowen, 2 brothers, David and Bette Thompson and Stuart Thompson all of Allegan, several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Donald, and his niece, Tracy (Arlington) Isenhart. Per Ray's request there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at Rowe Cemetery, Cheshire Twp., on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2 pm. With military honors by the Otsego VFW Post 3030. A lunch will follow at the Eagles in Allegan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice or the Eagles. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
