of Hopkins, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming. Mr. Kelsey was born February 21, 1920, in Reed City, the son of Orrin and Bessie (Chapman) Kelsey. Sam loved to garden and was a farmer in the area most of his life. He worked at Wilson Sporting Goods in Grand Rapids for 15 years, retiring in 1985. Surviving are 4 children, Marie Coon of Oklahoma, James and Patricia Kelsey of Hopkins, Kenneth Kelsey of Fenwick, Clara and Mark Wrobleski of Plainwell, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Lewis Kelsey of Plainwell, 2 sisters-in-law, Bertha Kelsey of Martin and Frances Kelsey of AZ, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion "Ruth", 4 brothers, George, James, Don and Carl, 2 sisters, Helen Pfiester and Laura Closs. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 5-7 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am. Pastor David A. Selleck from the Martin United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorials may be made to Faith Hospice or American Heart Assoc.
