Heath Twp., Allegan, MI, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at his home. Mr. Martin was born May 11, 1925 in Dowagiac, MI, the son of Berlin and Bertha (Reske) Martin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Allegan Bible Church and was dedicated to his family. He had been employed by the Michigan/Wisconsin Pipeline in Hamilton for 32 years. Surviving are his wife, Lois (Erwin), whom he married January 26, 1946 in Benton Harbor; 5 children, Susan Stephens of Massachusetts, Gayle Martin of Allegan, Connie and Bobby Mills of North Carolina, Mark and Amy Martin of Allegan and Joy and Dick Kuyt of Wayland; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ronnie and Barb Martin of Sparta and Fred Martin of Benton Harbor; 3 sisters, Ernestine Dummond, Donna Anderson and Virginia Jewel, all of Benton Harbor; 1 uncle, Edward Reske of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Ruth Neel, 1 brother, Jerry Martin and 2 grandsons, Matthew and Adam. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Allegan Bible Church. Pastor Chad Nightingale officiating. Military rites at Allegan Bible Church by Otsego V.F.W. Post #3030. Interment Brookside Cemetery, Heath Twp. at a later date.
