Obituary

Ray passed away December 21,2025, he was born in Allegan to Harold B. and June (Newton) Farnum; where he lived most of his life except for 3years the family spent in Fort Meyers Beach, FL.

Ray graduated from Allegan High School in 1970. Continued his working life at Friedland's Jacket Factory, Perrigo and Pet Milk, prior to being hired in at Mac Sim Bar later Mead then Rock Ten in Otsego where he spent 31 years until the mill closed it's doors permanently in 2004. Shortly after he went to work at Challenge Manufacturing in Holland where he worked for another 15 years. While at the Papermill he edited a in house newspaper called The Mead Rat. He also spent 15 years as Treasurer of the Fireman and Oilers Local. His other interests included: photography, live and recorded music, camping and traveling. Two of his favorite Bluegrass festivals were Wheatland and Hiawatha. His favorite camping spot was Sleeping Bear Dunes. For a few years he took several trips in this county and one abroad on the Motorcycle.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Wayne and baby sister, Jan, and father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Beverly Huff. Surviving are his wife of 51 years Devryn (Huff) Farnum, Two Daughters Ravyn Schneider(Scott Wagar), Dyrena (Dennis) Warner. Grandchildren Davynn, Rianon and Arionna Schneider, Drake (Savannah) and Cadyn DeGroff, Rayden, Dayne and Dennis Warner. Great Granddaughter Aliah DeGroff, Sisters In-law Brenda and Erica Huff and Brother In-law Kevin (Susan) Huff and many good friends to remember him.

In accordance with his wishes Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Hartman Center on April 4, 2026 at 1pm.
