Obituary

Allegan, MI, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mr. Veenkant was born October 19, 1914 in Allegan, the son of John and Della (Towner) Veenkant. He was a member of the South Monterey United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a farmer, had been employed at Rockwell, worked in road construction, was a carpenter and an avid hunter. Surviving are 2 children and their spouses, Jim and Jeanette Veenkant of Allegan and Darlene and Ralph Hollander of Fennville; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Clark and brother and sister-in-law, Boyd and Jessie Veenkant. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Linda Burton officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Monterey United Methodist Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
