Obituary

of Hopkins, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Pop was born February 14, 1913, in New York City, to Italian immigrants, the son of Joseph and Francesca (Treviso) Motto. He married his war bride, Catherine Lydiate, in 1950, after serving as a supply sergeant in England during WWII. Ralph was a tailor and sewing machine technician. Throughout his life he owned and operated a children's coat factory. He later worked for the New Jersey State Commission for the Blind, repairing machines and teaching the blind to sew. Ralph loved his children and was very proud of each one of them. They will miss his kind, stoic, and generous heart. Surviving are 7 children; Ann Dalton , a registered nurse in Colorado, Ralph and Amy Motto, a laser scientist in New Mexico, Richard and Debbie Motto a prominent businessman in Virginia, Peter and Judy Motto, a law enforcer in Kentucky, Ronald Motto an electrician and Pop's main caregiver for the past 8 years, in Florida and Michigan, Joseph and Ruth (Hansen) Motto, an electrician/mechanical engineer in Michigan, and Tony and Jill Motto a pipe fitter in Colorado, his brother, Arthur, 1 sister, Yolanda, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, an infant daughter, Carol, son-in-law, Jack, 2 brothers; Peter and Joseph, and 2 sisters; Angelina and Antoinette. There will be no local services. Ralph's remains will be taken to Denver, where his children will bury him next to his wife. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
