Phyllis Loraine (Vote) Rice passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on March 5, 2026, at Centrica Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo, MI. Phyllis was born to her late parents Harold and Terressa (Boylan) Vote on August 8, 1935, in Allegan, MI. After graduating from Otsego High School, she met her late husband Arlyn Rice and shared over 49 years of dedicated marriage before his passing in 2009. Phyllis started her career as a radiologic technologist specializing in mammography at Allegan General Hospital and then to Plainwell Pipp Hospital where she retired after 30 years. Outside of work, she loved playing any kind of card game, piecing together sticker books, watching sports on TV, supporting her grandkids at sporting events, and watching the great grandbabies. She was a member at the Church of God in Otsego and then to Merson Corners Church in Allegan. She treasured time with family and friends. She embodied living life by the golden rule and lived life setting a high moral standard for all to follow.

She is survived by her children, Todd Rice, Sheri (Russ) James, Dixie (Bryan) Lake, and Denise Ball; siblings, Dale (Donalyn) Vote, and Nancy Vote; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Terressa Vote, husband Aryln Rice, sister Crystal Coulter, sister-in-law Sue Vote and daughter-in-law Melanie Rice.

Phyllis’s open visitation will be on Thursday, March 12, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, 528 Trowbridge Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Following visitation, there will be a graveside service at Mallory Cemetery.
