Obituary

of Cheshire Twp., Allegan, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Mr. Prestage was born March 11, 1922, in Allegan, the son of James and Lula (Buck) Prestage. Doug was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII. He was a member of the VFW Post in Allegan. Doug and his wife Jean operated a Blueberry farm in Cheshire Twp., for over 40years. Doug also worked at Prestage Distributing in Battle Creek, and Imperial Beverage in Kalamazoo. Surviving are his devoted wife, Jean, whom he married on February 21, 1946. 4 children; Glen and Nancy Prestage, Lynn Kehoe, Marcia Johnson, James and Melanie Prestage, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Lvern Healey, Dorothy VerMeulen, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin, and his 1 great grandson; Dalton, 5 brothers; Richard, James, Robert, John, Max, 3 sisters; Geraldine, Elsie, and Helen. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, June 26, from 6-8 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday. Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice.
