41, died on April 5, 2013 at his home. He was born December 7, 1971 in Plainwell, Michigan, the son of Terry and Jeanne (Durian) Smit. Paul graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1990. He was a member of Hopkins Community Reformed Church. He worked a few years in construction and many years on the family farm, Peaceful Road Farms. Paul loved music, and will be remembered as an awesome singer. He was a hard and proud worker that would not just do something for you, instead would want to show and teach you how to do it. Paul is survived by his wife Amy (Walma) Smit; his children: Zachary, Devin, Olivia, Elaina; his grandparents: Frank and Elleen French, Thelma Durian; his brother Andrew (Lisa Black) Smit, and his sisters: Rebecca (Stan) VanderPol, Emily (Kevin) Martin; and very many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was a devoted family man, loving father, husband and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed. Friends may meet with the family for the Remembrance Gathering on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. at Hopkins Community Reformed Church, Hopkins, Michigan. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. also at Hopkins Community Reformed Church, Hopkins, Michigan. Pastor Ray Brown will be officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Dorr Cemetery at a later date.
