Paddy Samuel Joseph Lowry, age 77 of Gobles, MI passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born July 14, 1944, son of Samuel Joseph Lowry of Greencastle, Ireland and Louise Adeline Emily Tong of Cape Town, South Africa. He spent most of his early years in Johannesburg, South Africa. Paddy loved his family and regularly called to express care and concern for them. He was proud of his Irish heritage, enjoyed playing and listening to music, and was a rich and consistent source of jokes. An athlete himself, he regularly coached his children's soccer teams as they grew up. He owned several businesses throughout his life and was a talented furniture craftsman. Later in his life he became interested in writing as he sought to record his experiences growing up in South Africa. Paddy immigrated to the United States in September of 1977 with his family, including daughters Ami and Deborah. He became a naturalized United States citizen in October of 1992. Surviving are his wife, Georgiana Lowry (Samuelson); children Ami Wilson, Deborah Lowry, Ryan (Emily) Lowry, Kyle (Cindy) Lowry, Sarah (Dave) Duarte; grandchildren Deidre Trimberger, Tiernan Daza, Isabel Lowry, and Sammy Ramos; Noah Lowry; Olivia, Madelyn and Andrew Lowry; Owen, Abigail and Conner Lowry; Emerson and Louisa Duarte; three great grandchildren; his sisters Kathleen Wilson and Eileen Murphy; his brother Basil (Cynthia) Winchester; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Owen Winchester. A public visitation will take place on Thursday, March 31 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Allegan, Michigan, with a memorial service following at 12:00 PM. The church's address is 1290 32nd Street, Allegan, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in his name to Boys Town, an organization dedicated to supporting youth in crisis, located in Omaha, NE at www.boystown.org.
