Norma Jean Brokus, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Allegan County Medical Care Community in Allegan, Michigan. Mrs. Brokus was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 18, 1935, the daughter of the late James E. and Ann (Jowsma) Minkler. After high school, Norma went on to become a nurse and worked 36 years in the nursing field working for Allegan General Hospital, Pine Oaks Nursing Home and Dr. David, all in Allegan, retiring in 1990. She had a great love of family and enjoyed their time together fishing and boating on Miner Lake. Norma was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Allegan and also the Eagles. She made friends easily and can be remembered for her caring and generous spirit, along with her beautiful smile. Norma is survived by her loving husband, Alfred (Al); their 5 children: Donna and Bill Henderson, Mary Jane and Terry Clawson, Joe and Rinda Brokus, Mel Brokus and Crissy Shiels, Kathie Brokus and Chris Cole; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Audrey Laug, Shirley Barton and Nancy Jager; a sister and brother-in-law: Josephine and Bob Wait; and sister-in-law, Gus Brokus. Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Sunday, February 14th from 3-5pm, rosary will be recited at 3pm. Mass of Christian burial will be at Blessed Sacrament Church on Monday, February 15th at 11am, Rev. Father Alan P. Jorgensen officiating. Interment at Hudson Corners Cemetery.
