Obituary

Norine "Elma" Schweikert, 86 of Allegan, died Friday, April 9, 2004 at Metron of Allegan. Mrs. Schweikert was born July 13, 1917 in Monterey Township, MI the daughter of Charles and Vera (Ruehle) Duryea. She was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star #343 and the Hopkins VFW Ladies Auxillary. Surviving are 1 son, Tom of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Cindy & Lance Beard of Allegan, Cammy & Eric Stanislawski of Bessemer, Tim Brokus of Florida, Scott Brokus of Florida, and Michele Hill of Virginia; 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Oliver & Frieda Duryea of Florida, Cleon & Marilyn Duryea of Hopkins; 3 sisters, Violet Brewer of Hopkins, Geraldine Eakin of Battle Creek, and Naomi Weaver of Allegan, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell in 2003; a daughter, Carolyn Deffenbaugh in 2001; 2 brothers, Ronald Duryea and Everette Duryea; and 1 sister, Ople Thurston. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am. Pastor Joseph Spackman officiating. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
