Obituary

Monterey Twp., Allegan, MI, went to be with our Lord Thursday, February 28, 2008. Mrs. Coffey was born July 28, 1921 in Monterey Twp., the daughter of William and Sylvia (Buck) Commans. She was a member of the Burnips Wesleyan Church for 50 years, where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher and was active in other ministries. She was a graduate of Allegan High School, class of 1939, and from County Normal. She taught for 7 years at country schools in Diamond Springs and Wetmore and also at Hopkins Public School. On March 25, 1944, she married J. Russell Coffey, who survives; also surviving are 6 children and their spouses, Janice and Lee Jager of Burnips, Dale and Joy Coffey, Merle and Elaine Coffey, Arlyn and Kathy Coffey, Marla and Bob Boyles, all of Allegan, and Brenda and Jim Wobma of Wayland; 24 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Lois Ellinger of Allegan. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Wilma, and the twins. Friends may meet with the family from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Burnips Wesleyan Church, 3014 Newell St., Burnips. Pastors William Osborne and Steve Jones officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
