Obituary

Age 77, of Monterey Twp., Michigan, passed away Monday, January 16, 2006 at his home. Mr. Dame was born May 17, 1928 in Elmstead, Ontario, Canada, the son of Noah and Ann (Randall) Dame. He was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church, Wayland, and the Knights of Columbus. He was the founder and owner of X-Cel Transport since 1983 and developed and lived at Longview Ranch. He was also a member of the Allegan Sheriff Posse, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, the Lions Club, the Grand Rapids Economics Club, the Grand Rapids Transportation Club, Michigan Trucking Assoc., and the Breakfast Club of America.. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (McBrien); 9 children and their spouses, David and Debra Dame of Wyoming, MI, Richard Dame of Hopkins, Nora and Larry Graw of Wyoming, MI, M. Colleen and Denny Marihugh of Grand Rapids, Mary and Bill Lutke of West Olive, Nelson Jr. and Sonya Dame of Grandville, Daniel and Kathy Dame of Allegan, Dennis and Sarah Dame of Shelbyville, and Edward and Sue Dame of Allegan; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters and daughter-in-law, Terry. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Fuenral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, Wayland. Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Kassian, Celebrant. Private family interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Dorr Twp. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
