Allegan, MI, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 at Metron of Allegan. Mrs. Maschke was born June 8, 1917 in Allegan, the daughter of Claud and Leona (Humm) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Gerald Maschke, Nov. 22, 1934 in South Bend, IN, and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was a giving person, always there to lend a helping hand, and loved to garden and share it with family and friends. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. Surviving are 2 children and their spouses, Patricia and Dale Commans of Allegan and James and Diane Maschke of Plainwell; 2 stepchildren, Lois Haney of Kentucky and Robert Maschke of South Haven; 2 grandchildren, Ilene (Larry) Byers of Allegan and Joshua Maschke of Hopkins; 5 step grandchildren, Ruth (Dennis) Amsink of Holland, Helen (Daphas) Victor of Fennville, Dianna (Frank) Holmes of Bloomingdale, Doreen Maschke of South Haven, and Denise (Steve) Briggs of Vicksburg; 4 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren and 5 step great-great grandchildren; 1 step sister, Thelma Tienstra of Florida; 1 cousin, Lois Chase of Illinois. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor James H. Turner officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wings of Hope Hospice.
