Coopersville, formerly of Trowbridge Twp., MI, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Spectrum Health, Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI. Mrs. Gilson was born March 31, 1925 in Plainwell, the daughter of Ivan and Elsie (Beardsley) Yerden. She was a member of the First Church of God, Allegan. She taught school for many years in the Martin and Trowbridge Twp. area schools and loved playing piano. Surviving are 1 daughter, Martha E. Locke of Mississippi; 4 grandchildren, James Jr. and Valeri Gilson of Coopersville, Kimberly and Werner Morgenstern of Farmington Hills, Missy Nichols and Michelle Locke, both of Mississippi; 7 great-grandchildren, Christina and David Gilson, Elisabeth Morgenstern, Jay Juann, DonNesha, Anthony Jr., and Dontae. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, and son, James. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeffrey Stephens officiating.
