BROOKS, Myrtle Mae Allegan, MI, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Allegan Co. Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Brooks was born February 26, 1920 in Detroit, the daughter of Ernest and Marion (Christman) Green. Surviving are 9 children, Burdette and Sue Smith of Lawton, Howard and Hylie Smith of Kentucky, Ken and Kathy Smith of Gobles, Sandy and John Brady of Indiana, Ed and Carmen Smith of Holland, Dorie and Victor Schwartz, and Deb Black, all of Florida, Cheryl Blank, and Lee Brooks, both of Allegan; 7 stepchildren, Gloria Lowe of Kalamazoo, David and Tina Brooks of Florida, Richard and Barb Brooks, John and Sally Brooks, all of Allegan, Barb and Steve Shiller of Muskegon, Kenny Brooks of Allegan and Roger Brooks of Alabama; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 brother and his wife, Jim and Helen Green of Allegan; 3 sisters, Donna and Jerry Miller, and Thelma Osborn, all of Allegan, and Dorothy Blanchard of Florida; life-long best friend "Chubby" Grimm. She was preceded in death by her husband, August, and brother, Donald Murphy. Friends may meet with the family from 5 p.m. Wednesday until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Interment Salem Township Cemetery, Burnips.
