Valley Twp., Allegan, MI, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Borgess Medical Center. Mr. Cook was born Feb. 26, 1940 in Allegan, the son of Harley T. and Lucy J. (Ellis) Cook. He was a 1958 graduate of Allegan High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had been employed at the Grand Rapids office of Conrail for 22 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Lions Club, the Allegan Historical Society, the Allegan Community Players, and was Chairman of the Allegan County Chapter of the Michigan Eye Bank. He loved to hunt and fish. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Martin); 4 children, Michael J. Cook of Allegan, Leisa and Jerry Vollink of Dorr, Sarah and Paul Conolly of Florida and Amanda Bigelow of Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Emily, Jacqui, Lucas, Alexander and Zachariah; 1 brother and 2 sisters, George Cook of Escanaba, Helen Radke of Florida and Jackie Eckelstafer of Iowa; several nieces,nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister, Harold, Hadley and Imogene. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.
