Melvin Wayne Brown, 86, of Allegan, MI passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Born January 7, 1935 in Bloomingdale, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Wall) Brown and was the husband of the late Frances Mae (Hazen) Brown. Mr. Brown had been a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Allegan. He retired from Rockwell International and had served on the Rockwell Retirees' Committee for twenty-five years. Mr. Brown was an avid golfer and a member of the Rockwell league for fifty years. He served faithfully on the Board of the Allegan Credit Union and the Miner Lake School Board for many years. Mr. Brown also loved being outdoors ice fishing, deer hunting and cutting his grass and wood. Every year since 1958 Mr. Brown looked forward to a hunting trip to the UP with his boys where they would camp in their bus and he would make them blueberry muffins. Mr. Brown is survived by his children, Robert W. Brown (Deb Scurio), William P. Brown (Brenda Thomas), Dorothy A. (Mark) Mitchell and Bryan (Deborah) Belden; siblings, Arlene (Andy) Wilson, Wilma Melvin and Leonard Melvin; eight grandchildren, Katie (Kenny) Pohlman, Leia (Chris) Middaugh, Loren Brown (Jake A. Lambert), Cory Brown (Ashlea), Kyler Mitchell, Mariellyn Mitchell, Frannie Mitchell and Bryanna Belden; three great-grandchildren, Izabella Pohlman, Myra Bierling, Ellie Mae Brown and Baby M who has not yet made their debut. Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Olive VanHorn, Ron Brown and Don Brown. The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A graveside funeral service will take place at Hudson Corners Cemetery on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM. A celebration of Mr. Brown's life will follow at 1:00 PM on Saturday at his home.
