Max L. Schweikert, 89 of Allegan, died Monday, June 23, 2003 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Schweikert was born May 21, 1914 in Hopkins Township, MI the son of Otto and Fairy (Moored) Schweikert. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy overseas. He was retired from General Motors and had been a member of the Hopkins VFW Post #7571 and the Wayland Masonic Lodge #224. He had attended the Allegan United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Norine (Duryea) whom he married on August 21, 1936 in Allegan; 1 son, Tom Schweikert of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Cindy (Lance) Beard of Allegan, Cammy Schweikert and her fiancAC., Eric Stanislawski of Ironwood, Tim Brokus of Florida, Scott Brokus of Florida, Michele Hill of Virginia; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Daryl Schweikert of Allegan; 1 sister, Dorothy Huntley of Detroit; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Deffenbaugh on July 31, 2001. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where services will be held Thursday 11:00 am. Pastor Joseph Spackman officiating, along with the Caledonia Masonic Lodge. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
