of Allegan, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, December 19, 2010, surrounded by her beloved family. Mrs. Woodhams was born May 18, 1922, in Trowbridge Twp., the daughter of Thomas and Bernice (Porter) Morgan. Maxine graduated from Allegan High School in 1940, and went to County Normal and Western Michigan University. She taught school at Harper, which was a one room school in Trowbridge Twp. She also worked in Battle Creek at Bell Telephone as a operator. Maxine was the oldest attending member of the Merson Church, she loved her Lord, she was a true testimony in her community and family. She also loved to farm, raising chickens and selling eggs, growing vegetables from her garden and sharing them with friends and family. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jan and Bob Kesling of Allegan, Bev and Don VanLandegent of Kalamazoo, 11 grandchildren; Brenda, Tad, Jodi, Sara, Lori, Tim, Adam, Jon, Stephen, Andy and Tammy, 19 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Bo Morgan of Allegan, 1 sister, Marian Tansky of Ohio, her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Woodhams of Allegan, several nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends; Dave, Sue, Drew and Liz Allen. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Merril whom she married on June 14, 1947, her son, Doug, brother, Hollis, son-in-law, Jim Stuifbergen, sister-in-law, Donna Morgan, brother-in-law, John Tansky. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the Merson Church, Pastors Alan Carson and Gail Pike will officiate. Interment at Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. Memorials may be made to the Merson Church.
