Maxine Harig, 92 formerly of Dorr, Michigan passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Ely Manor Nursing Home in Allegan. In her younger years, she would spend time going to Flea Markets, garage sales or setting up her own garage sales. Getting a great deal was always fun, but the search brought Maxine even more joy. She and her husband Donald (Max) were owners of an antique store in Dorr. She was known as a hard worker and a caring person who loved her family and was happy to help anyone. She had a great fondness and caring for cats. Many found their way to her door where food was waiting. There was always one who had her favorite name: "Peanut". As she aged, Maxine appreciated the companionship and help from her niece Kathy Luxford. She enjoyed having special people over for tea or coffee. They brought the treats, she provided the beverage and conversation, smiles and laughter followed. She was a very special lady who had many beautiful traits. She will be missed. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Harig and friend, Art Oldebeken. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bruce Hyde, sister-in-law Patricia Harig, several nieces and nephews, along with her friend, Nancy Schmitz. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and Maxine will be laid to rest next to her husband in Salem Township Cemetery. Gorden Funeral Residence is assisting the family with arrangements.
