Obituary

Maxine Grace (Wall) Barnes, passed gracefully into the arms of Jesus, on March 9, 2026, at Allegan General Hospital (Beacon). Maxine was born to her late parents Earl and Madaline (Beals) Wall on September 26, 1935, at home in Cheshire Township, Allegan, MI. After high school and some college, she met Robert Barnes and together shared 52 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. Maxine was an accounts payable-payroll manager with Perrigo in Allegan, MI, working from 1974-1999 before retiring. Outside of work, Maxine was involved as a member of the Pearl Methodist Church, Allegan United Methodist Church, VFW Post 6134 in Pullman, Red Hat Society, and Lady Shriners. Advocating for women to work hard, be vocal, and serve faithfully in their communities. Maxine enjoyed tending her garden, watching her plants, flowers, and vegetables grow. She also loved going on motorcycle rides, fishing Lake Michigan for steelhead, boat trips in the Florida Keys, and spending quality time with her grandkids. Maxine was full of life, sharing her life skills with those closest to her, and always reflecting on her relationship with Jesus.

She is survived by her children, Candy (Phil Allen) Decker, Cindy (Rob) Harrington, Cathy (Bill) Bender, Jeff (Robin) Barnes, and Kim (Mike) Montoy; siblings, Kenneth Wall, Deanna Repotski, and Wayne Wall; grandchildren, Jesse Barnes, Morgann (Drew) Warner, Jacob Montoy, and Jeremy Montoy; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Warner, Hudson Daniel Warner, and Harper Rae Warner.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Melvin Wall, Lyle Wall, Robert Wall, Jane Wall, and Raymond Wall.

Maxine’s visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM with a luncheon to follow from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Both the visitation and luncheon will take place at the Allegan United Methodist Church 409 Trowbridge, Street, Allegan, MI, 49010.
