Obituary

Allegan, MI, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Mr. Hale was born July 11, 1932 in Allegan, the son of Guy and Ruby (Gillette) Hale. He graduated from Allegan High School in 1950, he loved books, sports and good conversation. He had an adventurous spirit and was an inquirer. Max was a amateur radio operator and a 42 year F.O.B. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict. He had worked for the Flashes in Allegan for several years and also Merchants Publishing in Kalamazoo. After retiring Max loved to spend winters in Texas. Surviving are 6 children, Jan and Butch Staley of Rockford, Beth and Tom High of Rockford, Kathy and Chris Miller of Gobles, Sandy Hale of Gobles, Leigh and Mike Holtz of Gun Lake and Guy Hale of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren, Joe, Andrea and Allison Staley, Jennifer and Spencer High, Brittany and Lauren Duchesneau, Joshua Hale and Colten Palmer, Haley, Jake and Justin Holtz; 1 brother, Hale of Ohio; 1 sister, Mildred Wuis of Martin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan, 2 sisters, Mary Rowe and Edith Arndt, 1 brother, Vic. Max was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. There will be no funeral services. Memorials may be made to the Kalamazoo Alano Club.
