Matthew Marvin Clawson of Allegan, Michigan passed away on October 24, 2021 at Medilodge of Portage after a long battle with illness. He was born on August 21, 1977, in Holland, Michigan to his loving parents Marvin and Margaret (McDonald) Clawson. After graduating from Hamilton High School in 1995 Matt worked for a small tire shop in Zeeland as an Assistant Service Manager. In 1997 he began his journey of becoming an electrician and obtained his Journeyman's License a few years later. For more than two decades Matt worked as a Journeyman Electrician for various electrical contractors. Most recently he worked for Webster Electric of Kalamazoo before exiting the work force in early 2020 when his health began to decline. Matt was an exceptionally hard worker most of his life and excelled in anything that he did. He was talented, dependable, and always there when you needed him. Matt truly loved craftsmanship and had an eye for wood working. He spent many hours in his garage creating and building beautiful pieces of furniture and more. Matt loved his family. He worked very hard to always give them what they needed and he loved spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing and target shooting with his favorite guns with his sons and his father over the years. Matt enjoyed trips with his family, which they traveled together often and created many cherished memories. He was a sucker for a good deal at any local garage sale or job site "dumpster diving" where he score some good finds. He loved to collect old or odd things and had quite the collection over the years. Matt and his bride Tracy (Sousley) Clawson basically grew up together and were best friends as they met and began dating at a young age. The two were married for 24-years. The family has so many great memories of their husband & father that they will cherish forever. Matt's presence and smile will be missed greatly. Matt is survived by his wife Tracy (Sousley) Clawson; sons Troy (Skylar) Clawson, and Thomas (Kyla Gibbs) Clawson; mother Margaret; and Sister Tina (John) Cooper. He is preceded in death by his father Marvin Clawson, and Brother Jesse Clawson. There will be a Memorial Service at the Griswold Auditorium in the Marilla lounge this Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 1pm - 3pm with a luncheon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Allegan County Community Mental Health, 277 North Street, Allegan, Michigan, 49010. Service Details.
