IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maryann (Conner)
Ferris
September 1, 1933 – March 12, 2025
Mary Ann (Conner) Ferris, affectionately known as MaryAnn, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes in Allegan, Michigan, on March 12, 2025. Born on September 1, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to her late parents Edward and Inez (Rumsey) Conner, MaryAnn's journey through life was one of devotion, service, and joy, which touched the hearts of all who knew her. After graduating from Rockford Public Schools, she would marry Volney Dean Ferris and share over 27 years of marriage before Volney's early passing in 1980. MaryAnn embarked on a career that would span three decades, retiring as the esteemed Food Service Director of the Allegan Public Schools. Her commitment to nurturing others extended beyond her professional role, as she served as a Cub Scout Leader, a 4H Leader, and a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. MaryAnn's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she could often be found at the Allegan County Fair, sharing her famous pies, chilis, and BBQ from the Church booth. She found joy in cooking for large family gatherings, baking delicious desserts, and tending to her beautiful garden. Her cherished dogs, aka "Babies," were a source of constant companionship and happiness. She was an avid sports fan and spent many hours tracking the latest news and watching her beloved Michigan State University Spartans, Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. MaryAnn's presence was a warm embrace, followed with her favorite color purple being a symbol of her faith and love she shared with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her children, David (Lynda) Ferris, Anne (Dan) Brenner, and Doug (Stacy) Ferris; grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Ferris, Joshua (Kim) Ferris, Travis (Andrea) Lambert, Drew (Jessie) Lambert, Brandon (Sarah) Ferris, Jessica (Lars) Ruser, Jacob Brenner, Conner (Hannah) Ferris, and Lauren Ferris, as well as many adored great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Inez (Rumsey) Conner; husband, Volney Dean Ferris; son, Dean Ferris; brother, Gerald Conner; and her grandson, Michael Ferris. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and her reunion with them is a comfort to those she leaves behind.
The church service will be on Friday, March 21st at 11 am at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd located at 101 North Walnut Street, Allegan, MI.
