Allegan, MI, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Kalamazoo. Mrs. McLaughlin was born December 6, 1937 in Allegan, the daughter of Theodore and Geraldine (Stearns) Nicolai. She was a graduate of Martin High School, class of 1955 and spent 2 years at Parson's Busness School. She had been employed by the Dept of Social Services, Kalamazoo, for 20 years, retiring in 1997. She had been a rural mail carrier in Shelbyville for several years and was a secretary at the Martin High School for 4 years. She was a fun-loving Red Hatter from Shelbyville, where she was the Queen Mother. She loved to golf and ski. Surviving are 2 sons, Bill and Kris McLaughlin from Allegan and Bob McLaughlin of Martin; 1 grandson, Kent; 3 brothers, Ted and Nancy Nicolai of Wayland, Phil and Cheri Nicolai of Detroit, and Bill and Patti Nicolai of Colorado; 1 sister, Phyllis and Max Miner of Allegan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including special friend, Richard Hudson, of Hastings. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
