Hopkins, MI, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Metropolitan Hospital, Grand Rapids. Mrs. Malone was born August 21, 1939 in Hopkinsburg, MI, the daughter of J. Howard and Ruby (Slawson) McEwen. She was a graduate of Hopkins High School, class of 1957. She was a life member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for 30 years. She worked for several years in the General Motors cafeteria in Grand Rapids. Surviving are her husband, Dick, whom she married Dec. 6, 1958 in the Hopkins Community Reformed Church; 4 children, Dawn and Lon Arndt, Sherri Malone, and Dan and Dawn Malone, all of Hopkins, and Julie Malone of Grand Rapids; 7 grandchildren, Kristi, Becki, Kelli, Katie, Taylor, Tyler and Alexis; 2 brothers, Larry and Marlene McEwen of Montana and Harry and Sandy McEwen of Cedar Springs; 3 sisters, Sandy and Bill Ludwick of Ohio, Kathy Brott of Wayland, and Cindy and Dave Lowman of Hopkins; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and many "special kids". She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat McMullen. Friends may meet with the family from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Hopkins Community Reformed Church. Pastor Dan Roxbury officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp.
