Mary Lou Brennan, 89, of Wayland, MI (formerly of Allegan, MI) passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Marla. She was born in what is now the City of Wyoming, MI, to Alvin Belden and Olive Sharpless Belden. She enjoyed bowling, helping with Dollars for Scholars, and was a long-time member of South Monterey United Methodist Church, where she directed the choir for many decades. A 1950 Allegan High School graduate, she worked at various jobs including The Flashes and in later years "calling BINGO" at ACMCC. She was the wife of the late Raymond G. Brennan, whom she married, November 18, 1950, in Hopkins, MI. Ray preceded her in death in 2009. Also, preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her brothers: Donald Belden, and DeVere (Jerry) Belden. Surviving are her five children and their spouses: Michael (Crystal) Brennan of Allegan, Terry (Anna) Brennan of Plainwell, David Brennan of Allegan, Timothy (Robert Sliwoski) Brennan of Fennville, and loving daughter, Marla Brennan of Wayland. Also surviving are her sister, Phyllis (James) Thomas, and sister-in-law, Emma Essenburgh, both of Allegan. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. The family is thankful for Faith Hospice for their helpful and vigilant care. Friends are welcomed to visit with the family on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation for one hour prior. Interment will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery. At the request of the family, please plan to practice social distancing and wear masks at the visitation and service.
