of Allegan, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his home. Mr. Mead was born in Martin, Michigan, the son of Harley and Frances (Cosbohn) Mead. Marty graduated from Wayland High School in 1952, he was a Veteran of the United States Army and had worked as a carpenter for over 28 years as a member of Local 297 and 525. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Donna (Davis), 2 son's, Brian and Amy Mead of South Haven and Ivan Sooy of Allegan, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his A½ sister, Arlene Kaminski of Grand Rapids, siser-in-law, Joyce Mead of Hopkins, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Glen, Jack and Bob Mead, and Dorris, Don and Dave Anderson, 2 sisters, Ardis Hooker and Avis Shade. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at 2pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Herb Curry will officiate. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice or the Allegan Home Care.
