Martha I. Zimmerman, 81 of Allegan, MI, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at her home. Mrs. Zimmerman was born February 5, 1922 in Jasper County, IN the daughter of James and Perlin (Williams) VanArsdal. She was a custodian for the Allegan Public Schools retiring in 1984, she then was a crossing guard for the City of Allegan until May 5, 2003. Surviving are 2 sons and their wives, Wayne & Carol Zimmerman of Irons, Roger & Judy Zimmerman of Allegan; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Marvin VanArsdal and Marion VanArsdal both of Plainwell; 5 sisters, Joan Dennis of Otsego, Barb Krogman of Colorado, Betty Laws of Otsego, Mert Broadhurst of Otsego, Jane VanArsdal of Plainwell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson on June 9, 2003 and 3 sisters, Mildred, Lynn and Elaine. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
