Martha E. Snyder (95), of Allegan, MI passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, with family by her side at Ely Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 30, 1924, in Chester, WV to the late Fred W. and Pearl (Mellot) McGaffick. She is survived by one son, Fred D. (Doug) Snyder, 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was married to William (Bill) Snyder in the Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo, MI on May 7, 1955. William (Bill) passed away February 28, 1989 in Baton Rogue, LA. She was preceded in death by three children, M. Sue Walters, Kalamazoo, MI; Larry (Bud) Snyder, Gobles, MI; Margaret (Peggy) Marino, Monroe, LA; one infant granddaughter, Jessica Hernandez, Tulsa, OK.
Martha was a lifelong follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She relied heavily on her faith in GOD. She shared her spiritual gifts of hospitality and caregiving with family, friends and those she met along life's journey. She had the opportunity to hold many different jobs in her lifetime. She worked as a laborer, foster parenting, secretarial positions, retail jewelry sales, and long-term care of the sick and elderly.
Cremation has taken place and her remains will be interned at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, William (Bill) Snyder in the Port Hudson National Cemetery, Baton Rogue, LA.
There will be a Celebration of Life in her honor on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Alamo Township Hall located at 7901 North 6th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A light lunch will be provided.
Gorden Funeral Residence of Allegan, MI has assisted the family with arrangements.
