Mark Joseph Horn of Allegan Michigan passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his home at Little John Lake on June 22nd, 2026, at the age of 66. Mark was born on September 11, 1959, in Saginaw, MI and raised in Chesaning, MI.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathleen. Together they had two children, Allison Jones (Timothy Jones) and Alex Horn (Audrey Rycewicz) along with his five grandchildren, Gabriel, Silas, Angeline, Beatrix, and Finley.

His parents were John Horny and Joyce (Horny) Francetic. He had 8 brothers and sisters. A step father Frank Fancetic, and step mother Sharon Horny, three step siblings, and a half sister.

He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in horticulture and received his Master’s degree in education at Western Michigan University. Mark had a tremendous effect on the people around him. His huge heart served him well in his teaching career of 34 years at the Allegan Alternative High School. His love for his students and his passion for life will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He spent hours in the garden caring for his many hostas. He loved going to thrift stores and collecting. He had a lifelong love of sports, including watching the Detroit Tigers, and the Michigan State Spartans. He loved coaching both as a dad and as a teacher.

Mark had a rare gift of making others feel seen, accepted for who they are and loved. His love for God, family and others made him the great man he was. He saw people the way God sees them.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held at Little John Lake park on Friday, July 24th, at 4p.m.
