Obituary

Marilyn Ada Matt, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Marilyn was born January 30, 1931 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of the late Clark and Carolyn (Carr) Stacy. She and her husband, Gerald, have been married for over 63 years, starting out their life together by eloping. Being together was easy for the two of them and they proved it by working together at Gerald's company during the day and raising three beautiful daughters. While the girls were young, Marilyn was very active in the PTA. Making their clothes, as well as her own, brought her great enjoyment. As the girls grew older, Gerald and Marilyn were able to travel more and some of their best times were spent cruising overseas visiting several countries in Europe. Traveling was always a lot of fun and getting to travel to China with one of her girls created special memories. Tracking down her ancestry was a passion of Marilyn's and she spent many hours researching her genealogy. It was very fulfilling to her to be able to find out any information that she could on her ancestors, information that she readily shared with her family which made for great conversations. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gerald; their daughters, Carolyn Matt, Catherine Matt and Jacqueline and John Weller; 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Mitchell and Leyna Weller. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Remembrance Gathering will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel followed by dinner at the American Legion Post #89 in Allegan. The family would love to have you visit with them and share stories about Marilyn during this time.
