Allegan Twp., MI, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 18, 2006. Mrs. Heckman was born May 25, 1927 in Allegan, the daughter of Walter E. and Amy I. (Olson) Gurn. She grew up on the homestead on 26th Street, where she was also married on July 7, 1945 to Kenneth Heckman. She was a talented organist and had been an active member for most of her life at the First Baptist Church where she played the organ for 43 years. She also played at the Allegan County Fair Grandstand for more than 20 years. She was a farmer and a creative artist, whose favorite slogan was "Perfect is Good Enough". She touched many lives with her enthusiasm and generosity. Her #1 goal was to glorify her Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ and her #2 goal was to serve her husband and her family. Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, Ken; 1 son, Theodore 'Ted' and Vickie Heckman of Allegan; 3 grandchildren, Theodore 'Tod' and Angie Heckman of Allegan, Kristopher 'Kit' and Mandi Heckman of Allegan and Amy Sue Heckman of Lawrenceville, GA; 3 great-granddaughters, McKennah, Delaney, and Kendra Heckman; 1 brother, Donald 'Dick' and Betty Gurn of Allegan; several nieces and nephews; 3 special friends, Betty McDaniel, Mary Pikaart and special niece, Chic Heckman. Friends may meet with the family from 4 p.m. Thursday until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Allegan Area Community Center, 330 Trowbridge St., Allegan. Rev. Raymond Mayhew officiating. Private graveside services will be held Friday at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan, MI. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
