Marilyn K. Hammer, 54 of Allegan, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 27, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Rapids. Marilyn was born March 30, 1947 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Peter and Wilma (VerStrate) Vander Wal. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allegan and would want to be remembered most for her strong faith and trust in God for the strength He gave her. She was a loving wife to George, dear mother of Jeff & Rebecca Hammer and grandmother to Jacob, all of Allegan. Also surviving are her mother, Wilma Vander Wal of Allegan, 1 brother, David & Marilyn Vander Wal of Allegan, 2 sisters, Gloria & Bill Simpson of Hopkins, Esther & Dennis Hammer of Allegan, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father on January 27, 1994. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, Allegan. Pastor James Turner and Raymond Mayhew officiating. Interment Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Missons Fund.
