Monterey Twp., Allegan, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at Metron of Allegan. Mrs. Lay was born July 29, 1904 in Port Sheldon, MI, the daughter of Fred and Tina (VandenBerg) Vander Heuvel. She made beautiful pine-needle baskets. Surviving are 2 daughters and their husbands, Maxine and Harold Boeve of Allegan and Clover and Warren Pommerening of Holland; 2 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair, in 1974, 1 granddaughter in 2001, and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Priest Dennis Smith officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp.
