Marie A. Benson, 81 of Allegan, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Mrs. Benson was born March 16, 1923 in Monterey Township, MI the daughter of John and Gladys (Robinson) Strickfaden. She had been a beautician and had owned Her Majesty Hair Salon years ago. She was a member of the Fennville VFW #7911 Ladies Auxillary.Surviving are 1 daughter-in-law, Sharon Benson of Allegan; 3 grandchildren, Pamela Manning of Allegan, Mark Benson of Gobles, and Chad Benson in the U.S. Navy stationed in Brunswick, Maine; 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Iva Russell of Fennville; 1 brother, Robert Strickfaden of Newaygo; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, David and her husband, Samuel. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A private family graveside will be held Tuesday at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township. Pastor Nathan Kelch officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
