Mae M. Collins, 86 of Allegan, MI died unexpectantly, Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mrs. Collins was born August 31, 1916 in Stevens Point, WI the daughter of Frank and Sophia (Marachowski) Reginski. At an early age, after her fathers' death, she was adopted by her great aunt and uncle, Julia and Emil Kern. As a child she loved to rollerskate and read. After graduating from high school, Mae moved to Grand Rapids, MI to work at the Grand Rapids Herald, where she met her first husband, C. Richard Miller. In the late 1940's they moved to Allegan where they raised their three children. Mae went to work for the L. Perrigo Co in the offices retiring in 1978. She and her second husband, Peter Collins owned and operated Hillcrest Orchards, a self serve fruit stand, for 20 years. He preceded her in death in 1993. In recent months, Mae had lived with Marty Webster at her assisted living home. Mae had a love for collie dogs, country music and cooking, but the most important thing in her life was her children and family, she loved being a mom! Surviving are 3 children, Judi Miller Morris of Saratoga, WY, Patti & John Carlisi of Three Rivers, and Robert & Candy Miller of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Chuck & Jennifer Morris, Kari Morris, Bethany & John Huhtala, Melissa Miller and Nathan Miller; 2 great grandchildren, Kayleigh Morris, Lainey Huhtala; 1 Aunt, Victoria Kriesberg of Las Vegas, NV; Peter's daughters, Betty Guild, Pat Hagerman, and Carolyn Hanson and their families. Also preceding her in death was 1 brother and 1 sister, Joey Reginski and Betty Duranso. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am. Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
